Marcus DaWayne Bentley of Mount Sterling, Ohio, Killed in Car Crash, Family Seeks Support

Marcus DaWayne Bentley Obituary: It is with deep sadness that the family of Marcus DaWayne Bentley, 17, of Mount Sterling, Ohio, announces his tragic passing following a fatal car accident on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at approximately 6:55 a.m. The crash occurred on State Route 753 near Robinson Road in Union Township.

Marcus was the driver of a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado traveling southwest when another vehicle crossed the center line and struck his vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His family and community are devastated by the sudden loss of a young life filled with potential.

Marcus Bentley was a bright, energetic teenager known for his kindness and strong spirit. A resident of Mount Sterling, Marcus was deeply loved by his family, including his aunt Kayla Bentley-Wertz, who is now organizing a fundraiser to support the family during this heartbreaking time.

The crash is currently under investigation by the Wilmington Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, which reported that Marcus was driving southwest on SR 753 when a 2024 Chevrolet Colorado, driven by Daniel Hunt, 32, of Springboro, crossed left of center and struck Marcus’s vehicle head-on. Marcus was ejected and died on the scene. Hunt sustained injuries and was taken by ground ambulance to Fayette Memorial Hospital, then later airlifted to Miami Valley Hospital.

Agencies assisting in the investigation include the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, the Fayette County Coroner’s Office, and the Ohio Department of Transportation.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington Court House. Service details will be announced by the funeral home.

In the aftermath of this tragedy, Marcus’s aunt Kayla Bentley-Wertz created a GoFundMe fundraiser to help the family cover funeral costs.
